The Vipers lost the Semi-Final series last night to the Onoway Ice Dogs but they can still walk tall and hold their heads up high now that it is all over. First the Onoway Ice Dogs is a very good team with a strong offense, a solid defence along with excellent goaltending. Loosing to the Ice Dogs is not a dishonourable happening. In fact the Vipers provided a strong opposition, maybe the stongest one the IceDogs had to face so far in the play-offs and will have to face in the remainder of the play-off series. Whatever the case may be, we (Vipers' organisation and the Vipers' players) wish the Ice Dogs best of luck in the finals and possibly in the Provincial play-offs.
Second, the Vipers have given us, the fans, a most exciting season full of thrilling occasions and tons of memorable moments. The Vipers have created an interest for the game within all of us, attracting young and old to the hockey rink for every homegame. It was a pleasure to see the young fans head to the dressing room after the games seeking autographs from the players. It was even nicer to see the Vipers take the time to, not only sign autographs but devote some of their time to accommodate the youngsters. Chapeau to the players for that nice gesture!
One can not neglect to mention at this point, the interest shown by the youngsters, who not only attended the games but also prepared posters, posted them on the glass behind the goaltender in an effort to encourage the players at the last two home games. No doubts the Vipers have become role models for our youngsters and they have done an excellent job of acquiescing this role.
At this point I would like to express my personal gratitude to the players and the people involved with the Vipers, for what they have given me over the last four seasons. It is a pleasure to be associated with the Vipers' organisation. It is refreshing to be working with a group of young individuals who are eager to display good sportmanship, perseverence, tenacity and most of all joviality in and out of the dressing room even after a heartbreaking defeat. I wish you all a happy summer and I hope to see you all again next year at training camp. Special thanks to Maurice Touchette, Norm Menier, Coaches Ray and Yvon DeChamplain, George (General Manager)and Suzanne (Secretary) Prefontaine and of course, last but not the least, the fans.

The Vipers lost their two last games and are hopeful to get back on track tomorrow night against the Slavelake WinterHawks. The race in the standings is still very tight and it is esssential that the Vipers take advantage of the remaining games of the season to solidify their play-off position. Fortunately the Vipers are playing four of their last five games at home in front of their fans. We urge you, fans, to come and support your favorites for the final stretch of the regular season. Hello Hockey Fans
Sorry for the communications interruption but my wife and I went for a short trip in western Canada last week and it was not possible for me to maintain the site to date during that time. However I am pleased to say that the Vipers have very committed friends in the far west. We met two families, formally from Legal, who are still keeping in touch with what is going on in the Legal Hockey Circles.
The pre-season is now over and I understand the Vipers did quite well. Many players showed up for the training camp, thus making the coaches' selection duties that much more difficult. However this is a more enjoyable task than having a shortage of candidates to pick from. To all the players who tried for the team and failed to break into the line-up, the Legal Vipers hockey organization wishes to thank you for the interest and enthusiasm you have displayed throughout the camp. Hopefully some of you might get recalled as the season progresses.
On the eve of the new season, the Vipers' fans are excited and looking forward to again another thrilling season. The 2009-10 edition of the Vipers is different with new players cracking the line-up this year, but don't panic, many of the original players are still going to be there to provide you with thrills and excitement starting with the Vipers' first home game on Saturday.

The Vipers win their first exhibition game
The vipers came from behind to win their first exhition game by a score of 6 to 5. After falling behind, by a margin of two goals, the Vipers rallied in the third to claim the victory against Tofield.
The two teams played good hockey and showed a lot of character in a game that had no significance in terms of standings in their respective leagues. The victory is nice to claim but the fact that the players gave it all they had is encouraging for the coaches who are trying to determine who will or will not make the line-up. The next Vipers' game is on the 9th of October in Onoway.
